January snaps and a yarn!

January was slow and fast. At the same time. I keep seeing posts and memes saying it’s the 75th day of January, short of saying it’s dragged on for too long.

But here we are! Pinch and punch folks! It’s February!

Oh and another thing, I launched a podcast! Yay! My goal for this year is to create more - whether that’s cooking more, writing or foraying into other platforms. It’s amazing when you connect with like-minded people who share the same excitement with you over an idea!

Adobo Yarn is our story as as Filipinos, learning to be Australian simultaneously cultivating traditions and our beautiful culture into the mould. It’s on Instagram, Facebook and our first episode dropped over at Spotify! Have a yarn with Razel and myself as we share stories that hopefully resonate with you all as well. Just casual unfiltered conversation between two friends wearing many hats - as parents, women of a certain age and generation, community members, as migrants!

The podcast is about navigating the migrant life as Filipinos in Australia, discussing culture, food, experiences and adventures. "Adobo" represents the rich and layered nature of the human experience. Just like adobo can be adapted with different ingredients and methods, our lives are a blend of diverse influences made rich through the stories and culture that we bring and the new traditions that we create.

"Yarn" symbolises the sharing of stories and experiences. We are weaving a narrative together, connecting with each other through the threads of our personal histories and perspectives.”
